Description
The tall Balmoral bow top gates are a heavy estate gate pair. The sides stand 1775mm high and the top arches up to 2082mm (82in) in the centre, with spear finials and rings.

Construction and finish
Solid steel. The hanging frames are 40mm x 30mm solid metal and all other frames are 40mm x 10mm, with 16mm round solid infill bars. Finials are black, not as pictured. Adjustable hinges allow levelling.
Choose your finish: primed and painted, or electro-galvanised and powder coated
Both options are black, but they are not the same product, so check which one you are ordering.
- Primed and painted black: the lower-priced option. The steel is primed and painted only. It is not galvanised or powder coated. It needs a good rust-inhibiting top coat after fitting, and more upkeep over the years.
- Electro-galvanised and powder coated black: the dearer option. The steel is electro-galvanised for added rust resistance, then powder coated. It needs less upkeep.
Neither finish is rust-proof. On the galvanised and powder coated version, check it now and then, touch up any chips with paint and expect to repaint every couple of years. Moving parts need touching up more often.

Screws and wall plugs are not included. Paint the nuts and bolts after fitting to stop them rusting.
Posts and fixing
Suitable posts: 70mm, 100mm or 150mm square concrete-in hinge posts, 2400mm long, with the hinges pre-welded. The posts are electro-galvanised and powder coated. The gate posts we sell include hinge posts with the hinge pins welded on and latch posts with the catch welded on, usually made to order. Ask us which suits your gate.
If you are hanging on metal posts, the hinges should be welded to the post. Check the posts or brickwork can carry the weight.
