Sliding Gate Automation
Sliding gates are the practical choice where space behind the gate opening is limited, where the ground slopes, or where you need a wide opening without the swing arc of a hinged gate. They track along the fence line and take up no space in the driveway when open.
We install sliding gate automation systems for residential and commercial properties across the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Cheshire, and Mid Wales.
HOW SLIDING GATES WORK:
A sliding gate runs on a track set into the ground, guided by rollers and driven by a rack-and-pinion motor. When activated, the motor drives the gate along the track until it clears the opening. The process reverses to close.
Cantilever sliding gates are an alternative where ground-mounted tracks are not practical. The gate is supported by a counterbalance mechanism at one end, allowing it to slide without a ground track. This is useful on sites with uneven ground or where heavy vehicle traffic would damage a track.
RESIDENTIAL APPLICATIONS:
For homes, a sliding gate offers a clean, space-efficient entrance. It is particularly useful on sites where the driveway rises immediately behind the gate line, where swing gates would hit parked cars, or where the opening is wider than is practical for swing gates.
COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS:
Sliding gates are the standard choice for commercial and industrial sites where wide openings, frequent use, and speed of operation matter. We install heavy-duty systems capable of handling gates up to 12 metres wide and weighing over a tonne.
For high-traffic commercial entrances, we can install systems with faster opening speeds and integrate them with barrier systems, intercom networks, and access control platforms.
