Description
Looking for a low black metal garden gate with a clean, modern look? The Abbey flat top is a single steel gate, 812mm (32in) high, with a pattern of thin 6mm bars set between 10mm uprights. It suits a front path, a short wall opening or a gap between two beds.
Sizes: metal garden gate to fit a 3ft gap
Measure the clear gap between your posts. The gate sizes already allow for the hinge and latch gaps, so pick the size that matches the gap.
- 838mm (2ft 9in) gap
- 914mm (3ft) gap
- 991mm (3ft 3in) gap
- Frame height 812mm on every size
- Hangs from either side, so left or right hand opening
- Burbage offer limited made to measure on this range because the pattern is a fixed size. Call for a quote.
Construction and finish
Solid steel, with 25mm x 8mm frames, 10mm round infill bars and 6mm pattern bars. The hinges are adjustable i-bolt type rather than the fixed hinges shown in the photos.
The finish is electro-galvanised for added rust resistance, then powder coated black. That is not a rust-proof guarantee. Look it over now and then, touch up any chips, and expect to repaint every couple of years. Moving parts need touching up more often.
What’s included
- Hinges and fixing brackets
- Bolts
- Tip latch and catch
Screws and wall plugs are not included. Paint the nuts and bolts after fitting to stop them rusting.
Posts and fixing
Suitable posts: blank 50mm square metal posts for this gate, with ball or flat tops. They need drilling on site for the hinge and latch brackets, so we can advise on the right length for your ground. Burbage point out that the gate is heavy, so check the post or brickwork is strong enough to carry it. Blank metal posts need drilling on site for the hinge and latch brackets.
