Everything here is ready made, priced and in stock, so there is no quote to wait for. It is the same stock we fit every week: hand-forged ironwork from Burbage Iron Craft, and the aluminium driveway range from Ready Made Gates. Prices run from £21.60 for a gate latch to £6,660 for an automated sliding gate, including VAT.

We fit everything we sell across Shropshire and the surrounding counties, automate driveway gates, and service and repair gates we did not supply. Where nothing here fits an opening, we make to measure. See our recent work, read the advice guides, or send us your measurements.

What if nothing here fits my opening?

Then we make it. Openings are rarely standard, and made to measure is available across much of the range, with anything further from standard drawn from scratch. See bespoke gate design for how that works, estate and commercial gates for larger entrances, and railings and fencing for the boundary either side. Send us the measurements and we will price it.

Can I add automation later?

Often, yes, if the gate is in good structural condition and suitable for it, though it is usually cheaper to plan for it at the outset than to retrofit. Read up on swing and sliding gate automation, and intercoms and access control. We hold Gate Safe Premier Installer status, the highest level of accreditation, so every automated gate we install meets current safety legislation.

Do I need planning permission?

In many cases, no. Gates under 1 metre high adjacent to a highway, or under 2 metres elsewhere, usually fall within permitted development. The exceptions are listed buildings, conservation areas and properties where permitted development rights have been removed. We can advise during the site survey, and there is a fuller guide in our advice section.

Can you service or repair a gate you did not supply?

Yes, whoever installed it. Automated gates should be serviced at least annually, which covers testing the safety devices, checking force levels, inspecting the mechanical parts and lubricating what moves. Manual gates that drag or will not latch are usually worn hinges or a post that has shifted rather than a gate at the end of its life. See maintenance and repair or safety testing.

Do you sell locks, anchors and security products?

Those are on our sister site. Simply Secure Direct carries the physical security range, including gate and fence hardware, ground anchors and chains, security posts and bollards, wheel clamps and hitch locks. For commercial premises we also install bollards and barriers, grilles and shutters and wider premises security.

What is the difference between buying here and asking for a quote?

This page is the ready-made range: standard sizes, priced, ordered online, and delivered to you. A quote is for anything made to measure, anything being automated, or any job where we are installing. If you know your opening and one of these fits it, buying here is the quicker and cheaper route. If you are not sure, every project starts with a free, no-obligation site visit, so get in touch and we will measure it properly.

Do your prices include VAT?

Yes. Every price shown on this page and on the product pages includes VAT, so the figure you see is the figure you pay for the item. Delivery and any installation are separate, and installation is quoted after a site visit rather than priced online. If you need a VAT invoice for business or accounting purposes, just ask when you order.

How do I know what size I need?

Measure the gap the gate has to fill, post to post or pier to pier, rather than the gate itself. Our sizes are quoted as the opening they suit and the hinge gaps are already accounted for, so you should not be doing the arithmetic. Timber moves slightly with the weather, so wooden gates allow for a little variation. If your opening falls between sizes, send us the measurements and we will tell you what fits.

Which material should I choose?

Aluminium will not rust and is light enough to automate easily, which makes it the low-maintenance driveway choice. Wrought iron is hand-forged, has real weight and detail, and suits a period frontage. Timber suits cottages and rural boundaries but wants treating every couple of years. There is more across our gates and railings pages, and we will give you an honest opinion on site rather than talk you into the dearest option.

Is everything in stock?

Most of it, but not all. Some ranges are made to order rather than held, and the timber gates in particular are usually built for you, with the Windsor range quoting up to three weeks for a single gate and three to four weeks for a pair. Each product page states its own position. Stock does come available sooner sometimes, so if you are working to a deadline it is worth calling 01952 740308 rather than assuming the quoted time.

What payment methods do you accept?

Bank transfer, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna. For installation work, payment terms are discussed as part of the quotation rather than taken up front. There is more on how we work in our general FAQs.

Can you fit what I buy here?

Yes, and for a driveway pair or anything automated we would recommend it. A typical residential gate installation takes one to two days, and we cover Shropshire, the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Cheshire and Mid Wales from our base near Shrewsbury. See how our installation works, or what we have fitted recently.

Can I fit a gate myself?

A garden gate, usually yes, and the rose arches assemble without tools. A driveway pair is a different job: the posts have to be set deep and true, or the gate drops and binds within a season and no amount of adjusting the hinges will save it. Everything here is sold ready to install, and the hinges, latches and drop bolts you need are in the accessories range.
