Estate & Commercial Gates
Larger properties and commercial sites have requirements that go beyond a standard driveway gate. The opening might be wider, the traffic heavier, the security requirements more demanding, or the site conditions more challenging. We have the experience and capability to handle all of these.
We supply and install estate and commercial gates across the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Cheshire, and Mid Wales. Our work covers everything from farm and estate entrances through to business park access points, industrial premises, and public buildings.
SWING OR SLIDING:
The first decision on any large gate project is whether to go with swing or sliding operation.
Swing gates are the more traditional option and work well where there is sufficient space for the gates to open fully without obstructing driveways or roads. For very wide openings, we can split the design into a pair of gates that meet in the centre, or use a combination of a large vehicle gate with a smaller pedestrian gate alongside.
Sliding gates are the practical choice where space behind the opening is limited, where the ground slopes away from the entrance, or where the opening is particularly wide. A sliding gate tracks along the fence line and takes up no space in the driveway. They are also generally faster to open and close than swing gates, which matters at busy commercial entrances.
MATERIALS:
Estate and commercial gates are typically fabricated in steel or aluminium, though timber is sometimes used for estate entrances where a natural appearance is preferred.
Steel offers the greatest strength and security, and is the standard choice for commercial and industrial applications. Hot-dip galvanising followed by powder coating provides excellent long-term protection.
Aluminium is lighter and rust-proof, making it a good choice for automated estate gates where reducing motor load is beneficial.
SECURITY FEATURES:
Larger installations often incorporate additional security features beyond the gates themselves. We can integrate CCTV cameras at the entrance, video intercoms for visitor identification, keypads or proximity readers for authorised access, automatic number plate recognition, and barrier systems.
For commercial sites, we also install rising bollards, road blockers, and anti-ram barriers where a higher level of vehicle security is required.
AUTOMATION:
Almost all estate and commercial gates are automated. We specify and install systems from leading manufacturers, choosing the right motor type and power for each application. All automated installations include the required safety devices, and every system is commissioned and tested before handover.
We also provide ongoing maintenance contracts for commercial gate systems, with options for regular scheduled servicing and emergency callout cover.
